課程概述

本課程以跨領域視角研讀都市與性別理論,指定教材包含西方都市與性別的文化理論經典文獻,並關注近期東亞的相關議題研究。研讀內容首先聚焦十九世紀的現代都市與當代全球城市,強調歷史縱深,探討的重要課題包括:空間的性別理論、現代性與(女性)漫遊者論辯、情慾與都市、身體與都市、城鄉與性別、全球城市之階級與性別,並延伸至中國、香港、南韓、新加坡、台灣等東亞地區的研究。學生將透過課堂講授、口頭報告與群組討論等方式,學習以跨國語境與多重觀點的研究方法來理解與分析性別與城市文化之歷史以及兩者之間盤根錯節的關連。

課程要求
1. Each student will be required to give oral presentations. The oral presenter has a minimum of 15 minutes for each presentation.
2. A two-page description of an idea for a term paper including bibliography is due by 11/28.
3. A term paper(15000-20000 words) should be submitted by the end of the semester.
4. Students are required to submit weekly reflective responses before each session.
5. No more than one absence will be excused except under special circumstances. Chronic lateness should be avoided.
